Layout by goods flow, not square metres

Receive — store — pick — ship must run one way with minimal crossing; racking and picking layout drives warehouse productivity more than anything else — lock it before touching infrastructure.

Floors and loads

High racking concentrates enormous point loads at feet, and electric forklifts grind floors all day — check existing slab capacity and apply proper epoxy before racks go in.

Heavy power and charging

Conveyors, wrappers and overnight forklift charging need stable three-phase supply and zoned distribution boards — size it upfront rather than upgrading after go-live.

Lighting and heat

Highbay fixtures run along rack aisles so goods faces aren't shadowed; metal roofs need insulation or industrial ventilation — picking-area temperature directly drives productivity.

Fire safety for stored goods

High-bay storage carries its own fire-code requirements for rack spacing, sprinkler heads and escape routes — the scheme must match the approved design before installation, or racks come down again.

How long does a distribution warehouse fit-out take?

A 1,000–3,000m² warehouse typically takes 6–10 weeks: power and flooring 2–3 weeks, racking and lighting 2–3 weeks, warehouse office and finishing 2–4 weeks. Much runs in parallel with good planning — AIC issues a weekly Gantt schedule.
